A thing or two about jewellery!

Probably the most important thing about accessorizing is it has to match you! You meaning your outfit, your skin tone and your moods. These days, there are many brands and companies out there that offer many various styles of earrings, bracelets and necklaces. There is also the trend of copying or borrowing style influences from famous singers or actors as they seem to always stand out from the crowd. While you’re picking and choosing your jewelry, here are some tips to make sure that you’re not merely picking out something to make you look better, but also to make you feel better from the inside.

  1. Matching your Natural Features

The color of our skin, hair and eyes all play a part in determining whether a particular accessory makes or breaks it. There is a wide spectrum of colors that jewelry can come in, like gold, silver, emerald green, sapphire. Perhaps the first step to choosing jewelry would be to determine your skin tone – cool or warm? Cool skin tones are identifiable by bluish colored veins on the inside of your arm, while warm skin tones are identifiable by greenish colored veins. For people with cool skin, accessories with white metal and red, purple or blue gemstones look the best. Red gems include the ruby, garnet, and tourmaline. Purple gems include the amethyst, fluorite, and sapphire. Finally, blue gems include the blue sapphire, topaz, and aquamarine. For people with warm skin, choose yellow metals and yellow, orange or green gemstones. Yellow gems include the yellow sapphire, citrine, and zircon. Orange gems include the imperial topaz and moonstone. Green gems include the emerald, jade, and peridot.

  1. Matching your Outfit

Each item should be able to not only compliment your outfit but also be interchangeable between outfits! If you generally wear clothes that are of colors like black or grey, you could opt for a brighter colored statement piece to add interest to your outfit. Or, if you generally have a bright colored wardrobe, perhaps a simple piece that is of neutral colors would work the best to complete your outfit. Choose a statement, bold pair of earrings to go with printed dresses

Lastly…do not forget to have fun! Picking out jewelry and accessories should always be enjoyable. Don’t stress out too much about how it might look or how it might not complete your outfit. Come with an open mind to browse through different collections and pieces to see which one suits you best. Rather than starting with the mindset that you need to consider many things, start simple and start with an open mind.
